Our shared goal

It is our duty to be completely honest with you all about our simple beginnings.

One Lord’s Day evening in the Saval Road APC church the Gulley Family from Texas, USA attended our service. Jason, Hope and their children, Dennis, Jacob, Abigail, Andrew and Anna.

Jason told me that day that the Lord had sent him to Sutherland with particular reference to Lairg to help in his kingdom in these parts of the vineyard. I said that I had prayed & looked for that help.

Jason has made it known from the outset that his outstanding ambition is to establish some kind of children’s home for the vulnerable in our society.

I told Jason and Hope about Aultnagar Lodge which was not in use and unoccupied.

Recent conversations with Council’s Lorna Munro revealed the amazing statistic that Highland’s number of children “in Care” are equal to Glasgow, and that there are grants available to reduce this. This is the problem with which the North Highland Refuge and premises at Aultnagar will strive to assist with.

Let us, therefore, move forward together, further, to breathe life into Aultnagar and make it once again a place of vibrancy and life!

The laughing burn

Aultnagar (Gaelic for the laughing burn)...

Was commissioned by the great philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and completed in 1904 to be used as a hunting lodge.

Together we are stronger

We believe that compassion for our fellow man can help overcome the highest of obstacles. The North Highland Refuge is calling on the support of the Scottish Government, Local council and residents of Sutherland to help those who need it most, children in care. With a combined effort we can create a safe environment to help the most vulnerable members of our society to thrive and experience a better standard of care.
